How Trapped Key Interlocking Works

1 Isolation

The hazardous energy source or operating control is placed in a defined safe condition. A trapped key is released only after the required isolation condition is achieved.

2 Key Exchange

The released key is transferred through an exchange unit when several access points, people or operating steps need to be controlled.

3 Access

The exchanged key opens the required access lock. The key remains trapped while the access point is open, helping prevent an unsafe restart before the sequence is completed.
